This game's writing is so realistic it's scary

I love it

(+1)

is there gonna be a part 2?

(+1)

She says there is in 2025. Although we may be lucky and it comes out before that.

(+3)

I just played through it for the first time. I have to say that I really like it. The relationship between the main characters is just awesome and I really like the character designs. The humor is also really good. Diya beeing this huge and buff but really shy girl and Min being tiny but very agressive is something that melted my heart.

I wish I would be talented enough to do fanart, because I would draw the shit out of those characters 24/7.

I'M NOT CRYING *sniff* YOU'RE CRYING >:'C

I swear that at home all my family was looking at me like if I was crazy while reading this. OMG so hilarious, and yet so mature. Thanks for your work.

Liz posing for her senior year photo.

Photographer:  Okay, Liz.  Just give us a big smile and try to look as relaxed as you can... Well, good enough. 3,2,1.  Okay.  Next kid!

Awesome! So… fucking… funny. Love the characters! It’s a bit too linear and short, though. I didn’t feel the choices mattered much. But I am nitpicking, I think. It's definitely a must play.

I think it is more of an story with interactive elements than a game, and as such you can’t compare it to normal games.

(+1)

True, and I have nothing against that. However, stories like that should advertise themselves as what they are and not try to pass themselves as anything else.

Again, thoroughly enjoyed it and I recommend it, but I wouldn't call it a game. It's more like a comicbook, almost.

(+3)

These are like legit my favorite characters to draw.

My itch page for the android (and later web) version was taken down. However, in cooperation with ms. Lei herself we have created a new page: https://brianna-lei.itch.io/butterflysoupports

I am also still looking for translators: https://github.com/hackerncoder/butterfly-soup_translations

This game is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.

I played this game back in like 2017 or 2018, and I absolutely fell in love with it. But I also was fairly immature at that time, so a lot of the messages and themes the game portrayed were lost on me.

I came back to the game recently after 2020 threw my family and I through a spin. Not going too far into it, my home life is pretty shitty, but more importantly I went through an identity crisis. I wasn't quite sure who I was anymore, or if I truly liked myself.

Butterfly Soup helped me come to terms with myself. It would be a stretch to say that it was the sole reason of how I accepted my identity, but it helped immensely.

I can now be proud to say that I am a trans lesbian. And that I no longer hate myself.

To Brianna Lei, thank you for everything.

There's a Butterfly Soup Webcomic?  Yup!  We're just starting the Try Out arc (think Tournament Arc in a shonen)!  Ester vs. Yuki compete for the coveted spot of 2nd Basewoman!  Check it out!

10/10!

loved the game! I made an account to write this!

The plot was amazing, I am in love with all the characters, I love the story! There were lots of parts in each story I laughed at.  I love this game! It has diversity, LGBTQ+ representation, Humor, Development, Perspective.. The art was amazing as well!

I love this game and I can't wait see more games from you :))

(+3)

This was the first visual novel I read/play and I am very happy that it was also available in Farsi!

(+1)

Same this was my first visual novel too!!

(+2)

I played this in like September of 2019 with my friend, and it was amazing!  I'm going yo re-play it again.

(+2)

id do anything for a part 2 i fell in love with this

(+3)

Yuki (Grace) and Sakura (Sumia)!

(+4)

This is truly one of the best games ever made. The writing is some of the best ever. The comedic writing probably IS the best ever. The characters, the pacing, it's all amazingly well done. If you haven't played this you just should stop whatever you're playing and play it now. It's incredible.

(+4)

This game has been living in my head rent-free ever since I played it a couple months ago. It's just so charming, delightful, and relatable as heck, being a Chinese adoptee and gay. While I grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood, most of my friends were Asian, so this reminded me of my friend group in some ways that are really nostalgic too. I can't sing my praises enough and how much Butterfly Soup means to me -- thank you for making this beautiful gem!

(+5)

Omg I fell completely in love with this game! It's so quite and the characters are so wonderfully quirky and lovable! Thanks for making this <3

Nope, i'm on the Reddit.

(+2)

That’s so cute

(+2)

genuinely close to tears with how heartwarming the ending was~ 🖤

whenever I try and open the dmg this comes up:
any help on how to open it?

(1 edit) (+1)

It seems the yearly 100$ fee to “notarize” (see the Jan 02 dev log “Mac version is now notarized for Catalina”) the app may not have been payed (or something else, it just coincides with the new year and is the same time Brianna sent out the dev log on this last year…).

You may want to do a workaround or use my web version

(+1)

I'm using your web version and it's nice, thanks for the info.

in the Settings -> Security and then see on the buttom

(+5)

Check out the ongoing Webcomic !

This game inspired me to really improve my art/music/writing skills.  For that I'll always be grateful!

(+1)

I downloaded this a few months ago, and now I'm back to play it again lol. This is such a great game, and it made me laugh a lot. like,  A LOT. I love all the characters and the story is really fun :)

This is a must play, it is funny, happy and very well done. It is the highest ranked game on itch for a reason. I personally never play visual novels and don’t like them, with the exception of butterfly soup, it is so good that you don’t even need to like the game genre to like the game.

I would also like to say that I have created an Android and web version if you do not have a computer, or would like to take it with you: https://hackerncoder.itch.io/butterfly-soup-android

Or if you would love to translate the game, but are sad because Brianna isn’t taking any more translations (from FAQ), well, I have also created a project for unofficial translations: https://github.com/hackerncoder/butterfly-soup_translations
We are currently working on a Spanish translation, which seems to be the most requested in the comments (but that doesn’t mean you can’t translate it into a different language).

(+2)

...ok nvm im just dumb.

(+1)

how the how do download it? maybe im just really dumb.
