Hey there, sorry to hear you can't open it! Are you trying to open it through the itch app? It can't be opened through there -- could you navigate to the game in Finder, double click the icon, and drag it to the Applications folder? If not, could you let me know what happens?
Hi! i was having the same issue but luckily found a work around. when the butterfly icon appears, try to drag it to your applications folder in finder, it will say butterflysoup2. Once you click it it will say it's verifying the app and it will open. hope that makes sense! i can upload images of my process if u need further instruction!
Don't know if any other mac users are having this issue but I keep trying to launch the game and it wont T_T and itch will say last played 10 seconds ago even though it won't actually open
I'm sorry you can't open it! Have you tried double clicking on the .dmg file? It should open the file you need to drag into the Applications folder. I don't have a mac I can test it on rn so let me know if it works!
I was 17 when I first played the first Butterfly Soup game. It was on a stream date with a woman I had just begun dating - a woman who years later would become my fiancée.
I cracked open this new title and was instantly greeted with a wave of nostalgia. The same charm from the first game was still present, just with even more polish now. I feel like I am back in that silly date. We played that whole first game in one sitting - I remember so vividly sitting on the futon of my childhood home giggling at the characters’ antics with the love of my life on the phone.
I’m closing the game now, not even five minutes into it. Not because I didn’t like it, but because I want to wait to like it. I’m going to wait until I can enjoy this with my fiancée. I will update this review when that time comes. I just wanted to thank you, Brianna Lei, for the wonderful memories and cozy feelings you’ve brought me and my fiancée.
edit: Hey [: We finally played and finished the game. It was a very enjoyable experience that had us rolling in all sorts of emotions. A lot of the story beats really resonated with me as an Asian American lesbian. The writing is really wonderful - my fiancée and I were particularly amused by the callbacks to various parts of the script (both within the BS2 script and even some nods to the BS1 script!). So, in full earnest, thank you Brianna for another wonderful experience [:
